Eric Thun

is Assistant Professor of Politics and International Affairs at Princeton University. His areas of expertise are the politics of economic reform in China and industrial development in China, Taiwan and East Asia. Thun completed his undergraduate studies at Princeton University, earned his doctorate at Harvard University, and did a postdoctoral fellowship at the MIT Industrial Performance Center. His doctoral dissertation analyzed the development of the Chinese auto industry, and focused on the efforts of municipal governments to develop automobile supply networks. This research was funded in part by the Social Science Research Council and the Mellon Foundation. He is currently conducting research on Chinese linkages to international manufacturing networks and the impact of WTO on industrialization in China. Dr. Thun speaks Mandarin Chinese, and has lived in both Taiwan and Mainland China.
