Jack Xu

Jack Xu joined NetEase as Chief Technology Officer in May 2000. As one of the most accomplished scientists and industry experts in the field of information retrieval, Mr. Xu brings in his vast experience in advanced software development as well as his management experience. In this capacity, Mr. Xu has been responsible for all NetEase's R&D, product development and operation. With his leadership, the NetEase's registered users has reached 18 million, daily pageview has passed 120 million. Netease has maintained the most advanced technology among all its competitors in China. He was instrumental in bring NetEase into IPO (Nasdaq: NTES) in June 2000. Prior to joining NetEase, Mr. Xu served as Director of Core Technology Group with Excite@Home Corporation from 1996 to April 2000.

Mr. Xu holds a Master of Science degree in Information Science with Zhongshan University in China. Ph.D. candidate in Computerized Information Retrieval with the University of California at Berkeley.
