Richard M. Frankel

Richard M. Frankel is Assistant Professor of Accounting at the MIT Sloan School of Management. Professor Frankel holds a Ph.D. Degree from Stanford University. He received Masters of Science and B.S. degrees (with Bronze Table honors) from the University of Illinois in accounting and is also a CPA. Professor Frankel's research is published in The Accounting Review, the Journal of Accounting & Economics, the Journal of Accounting Research, and the Journal of Law, Organizations, and Economics. His research has also been cited in the Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, and Money magazine.

Professor Frankel has taught at M.I.T. since 2000. Prior to that he was a professor at the University of Michigan. At Michigan, he received the MBA Student Award for Teaching Excellence and was nominated for the award several times. His principal teaching interest is financial accounting and reporting. His current research focuses on valuation using accounting numbers and on corporate managers' use of conference calls and earnings forecasts.
