Thomas R. Gottschang

Thomas R. Gottschang is Associate professor of Economics and Chair of the Economics Department of the College of the Holy Cross, Worcester, MA. Professor Gottschang holds a Ph.D. degree from the University of Michigan. He received his M.A. in Economics, M.A. in Asian Studies and B.A. in History from the University of Michigan, the Yale University, and the Denison University, respectively.

Professor Gottschang's research is published and cited in Journal of Comparative Economic Studies, Economic Development and Cultural Change, the Library of Congress, St. Martin's Press, University of Michigan Center for Chinese Studies, China Briefing, Foreign Area Studies, Journal of Economic Literature, China Quarterly, Economic Geography, Journal of Economic History, Journal of Asian and African Studies, etc. Professor Gottschang has written books about the economics development in China.

Professor Gottschang also held adjunct associate professor position at Tufts University and served as director and consultant to many research organizations and projects. His research focuses on the economics of China, Vietnam and Asia from the historical perspective. His teaching interest is Economic Growth and Development, Comparative Economics, and Economic Development in China.
