Mr.
Ma Wei Hua is now a director and the President of China
Merchants Bank, also an executive director of the Chinese
Institute of Finance and a director of the Chinese Entrepreneurs
Association. He was awarded a doctor's degree of economics
and an honorary PhD respectively by Southwest University
of Finance and Economics (China) and Southern California
University (the US).
Graduating from the School of Economics in Jilin University
with a Bachelor's Degree, he began to serve in the government
of Liaoning and Anhui provinces. He was transferred
to the People's Bank of China (PBC) in 1988 where he
served as the Secretary to the Governor, then the Deputy
Director-General of the Governor's Office and the Monetary
Planning Department respectively. At the end of 1992,
he was appointed as President of the PBC Hainan Branch
and of the State Administration of Exchange Control

Merchants Group, China Merchants Bank was established
on April 8, 1987, China's first commercial bank wholly
invested by the legal entities of business, headquartered
in Shenzhen that is a special economic zone in China.

to be publicly listed in domestic and foreign stock
market.
