Dr. Chang, David C.

President, Polytechnic University of New York

Dr. David C. Chang, an internationally recognized scholar in the field of electromagnetics, was named the ninth President of Polytechnic University in 1994. Previously he was Dean of the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences at Arizona State University and Professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University of Colorado. Dr. Chang holds a master's and doctoral degree in applied physics from Harvard University and a bachelor's degree from National Cheng-Kung University in Taiwan. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, Past President of the IEEE Professional Society on Antennas and Radio Union, to name a few of his professional affiliations. In 2000, Dr. Chang was awarded the IEEE Third Millennium Medal for his contributions to the field of antennas and propagation.
Dr. Chang serves in a number of civic capacities including: Chair, Finance and Administration Committee, Commission on Independent Colleges & Universities (CICU); Fellow, New York Academy of Sciences; member, Mayor Michael Bloomberg's Committee on Appointments; member, NYC's Panel on Education Policy; member, Mayoral Advisory Task Force on Stimulating Growth and Diversity in NYC Economy; Executive Committee, Downtown Brooklyn Council; member, Committee on Student Aid, NAICU, Board member, NACME. David Chao is a co-founder and Managing General Partner of DCM-Doll Capital Management, and has been active in the IT / Venture industry since the 1980's, participating in the fastest growing sectors of computers, communication, and the Internet industries. DCM is a top-quartile performing venture fund and one of the Top 20 largest venture funds in the Silicon Valley. At DCM, he assists the portfolio companies in formulating corporate and product marketing strategies, developing strong management teams, and implementing domestic and international partnerships. His past experiences include executive roles at Apple, McKinsey, and being a founding officer of Japan's largest corporate wireless reseller. David serves on the Board of 51Net, Branders, Ecast, eDream, UP Tech and Recourse Technologies, (the 6th largest acquisition in 2002). David is a member of the Thacher School Board of Trustees. Ms. Chen, Yongling

Deputy Director-General, International Liaison Department, All-China Women¡¯s Federation

 

Ms. Chen is the Deputy Director General of the All-China Women¡¯s Federation¡¯s International Liaison Department after serving as Director of the International Cooperation Division at the Department. Her extensive experience coordinating with international agencies at the Federation prepared her for her position at the United Nations from 1993 to1996 as the Social Affairs Officer in the Department of Policy Coordination and Sustainable Development, and she went on to work closely with international agencies including UNICEF and UNDP to initiate and manage assistance projects aimed at improving the welfare of women in China after she returned to the Federation.
Ms. Chen graduated from Shanghai University of International Studies and is currently studying at the Kennedy School of Government of Harvard University.

Dr. Chen, Yunxian

Chairman and CEO, GF Securities, Ltd.

Dr. Chen is the board chairman of GF Securities Co. Ltd. In addition, he holds the positions of vice-chairman of the Securities Association of China, director on the board of Shanghai Securities Exchange, director of the standing committee of the Enterprises Association of China, advisor to Guangdong Provincial Government, and senior research fellow of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Dr. Chen is also a visiting professor at several universities, such as Beijing University and Nankai University. Dr. Chen has a doctoral degree in economics from Beijing University. Among all of Dr. Chen's works, Comparative Study on Chinese and Foreign Securities Investment has been regarded as the first monograph on securities investment in the domestic and international market in China.

Dr. Deng, Kun, CFA

Mr. Deng is a Director and Senior Portfolio Manager at Lazard Asset Management, managing about $1 billion in global investments. Among the funds he manages are World Trust Fund, a closed-end investment company listed on the London Stock Exchange, Lazard Emerging World Fund, a Dublin-registered mutual fund, and Scottish and English LP, a limited partnership investing in ex-US global countries.
Mr. Deng has a masters in international finance from Columbia University, completed his Ph.D. course work at New York University, and an M.A. from China's Beijing University. He is Chartered Financial Analyst and a member of The New York Society of Security Analysts. He served on the International Advisory Board of the Emerging Powers Program of the World Policy Institute. Dr. Ha, Joseph M.

Joseph Ha is Vice President for International Business and Government Relations of Nike, Inc, and is Professor of International Politics at the Institute of USA and Canada Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences. He is Chairman of the Nike Sports Korea and Nike Philippines Board of Directors, Vice Chair of the Nike China Sports Board, a member of the Nike Japan Board, and a Board member of Nike Mexico and Brazil. Additionally, Professor Ha serves as a Board member of the World Affairs Council of America, USA Chamber of Commerce, Council on Foreign Relations, US-ASEAN Business Council and serves as Governor on the Board of Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation, among others.
Professor Ha received his BA in Political Science and Economics from the University of Washington, a Certificate from the Harriman (Russian) Institute at Columbia University, and a Ph.D. in International Relations from Columbia University. Additionally, he is the recipient of five honorary doctorate degrees.

Mr. Kronick, Scott

Managing Director, Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide, China

Scott is a 16-year veteran of Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide with public relations experience covering the United States, Taiwan and China markets. Scott oversees the overall Ogilvy PR operation in China, leading a team of 70 in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou. Scott is one of the two founding members of Ogilvy PR in China and plays a pivotal role in the overall leadership and management of the firm. Scott also provides management oversight for the firm’s acquired local public relations partner, H-Line Ogilvy Public Relations. Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and H-Line Ogilvy Public Relations combine to form the largest public relations firm in China.
Scott writes frequently on public relations and international business issues. In the US, he was a columnist for two newsletters covering international trade, and he contributed to a book entitled The Frugal Marketer, published by AMACOM. In Asia, his work has been published in MEDIA, PR Week, the China Daily and Taiwan's China News. He is a graduate of Syracuse University in Syracuse, New York.

Mr. Lam, Stephen S. L.

Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region

Stephen Lam is the Secretary for Constitutional Affairs of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government. He assumed the current position on 1 July 2002, when he left the Civil Service and joined the team of Government Secretaries who are all politically appointed.
As Secretary for Constitutional Affairs, Mr. Lam oversees the implementation of the Basic Law and the "One Country, Two Systems" principle. Apart from facilitating the development of HKSAR's external affairs, he is also responsible for formulating policies on electoral affairs. He is a Member of the Executive Council, the highest policy-making body in HKSAR.
Mr. Lam joined the Civil Service in October 1978 and has held many positions in the Administration, including aviation, constitutional affairs, housing and tourism.
Mr. Lam was educated in Hong Kong and received a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree from the University of Hong Kong. He also qualified as Barrister-at-law at Gray's Inn, London.
Mr. Lam is married and has two daughters.

Dr. Aimin Li is currently the Acting Director of the Chinese Language Program in the Department of East Asian Languages and Civilizations, Harvard University. His research and publications are primarily in the areas of socio-cultural aspects of linguistics and Chinese pedagogical grammar. Besides teaching language and linguistics, Dr. Li has also taught courses in other China-related topics, including "Tradition and Revolution", "20th Century China through Literature", and "Introduction to Chinese Culture and Society."

He has rich experience in corporate strategy, restructuring of State Owned Enterprises, process redesign, IT strategy, and strategic performance management and has spent the last 10 years helping companies in China with their strategic and operational issues. Shan Li is the Chief Executive Officer of Bank of China International Holdings. He was a former Managing Director and head of China Investment Banking, Lehman Brothers Asia (Hong Kong). Prior to joining Lehman Brothers, he was the Deputy Head of the Investment Bank Preparation Committee of China Development Bank. Also, he worked as an Executive Director of the Advisory Group at Goldman Sachs International (London), Executive Director of Investment Banking Division of Goldman Sachs (Asia), Executive Director of Economic Research Department of Goldman Sachs (Asia), and International Economist at the Goldman Sachs New York office. Prior to his tenure at Goldman Sachs, he was an Associate of Global Foreign Exchange Trading at Credit Suisse First Boston. A co-founder of Sinanet.com, Lin oversees SINA.com's U.S. operations as well as all aspects of business development. Previously, he served as a consultant with Ernst & Young Management Consulting Group, focusing on marketing and operations in telecommunications and technology companies. Lin has also held marketing, engineering and management positions at Octel Communication, Inc. and NYNEX.

Prof. Lin, Jing

Associate Professor, University of Maryland

Jing Lin is an associate professor in the Program in International Education Policy. After having worked at McGill University in Canada for eight years, she joined the University of Maryland in 2000.
Prof. Lin's research includes social transformation and challenges to equity issues in education; the development of all forms of private schools as alternatives for education provision; women's social status and girls' education; and problems and issues concerning education for the ethnic minorities. She has systematically examined politics, culture and education in China, and studied social, cultural, economic and political changes in the reform era and dilemmas of education facing primary and secondary schools today.
Prof. Lin has published extensively. Her most representative publications are four books: The Red Guards' Path to Violence (1991), Education in Post-Mao China (1993), The Opening of the Chinese Mind (1994), and Social Transformation and Private Education in China (1999). Currently, she sits on the board of directors for the Comparative and International Education Society.

Prof. Liu, Yuanli

Assistant Professor of International Health, Harvard University School of Public Health

Yuanli Liu is an Assistant Professor of International Health at the Harvard School of Public Health. With a rich background in medicine and economics, Professor Liu has conducted extensive research, consulting, and teaching projects on health system analysis and reforms, health care financing and health insurance schemes, as well as health and economic development. He has served as an advisor and consultant to the healthcare and pharmaceutical industries and international organizations such as the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, World Health Organization, and UNICEF. He currently serves on the UN Task Force For HIV/AIDS, TB, Malaria, and Access to Basic Medicines. He has been closely involved in helping design, monitor, and evaluate China's rural and urban health system reforms. A Far Eastern Economic Review article in June 2002 credited a recent study by Professor Liu on China's rural health insurance as having influenced the top leadership's thinking about rural health policies.

Dr. Lui, Che-woo

Chairman, K. Wah Group

Dr. Lui Che Woo is Founder and Chairman of K. Wah Group which mainly involves construction materials, properties and hotels and has over 200 subsidiaries and nearly 10,000 employees worldwide.
A pioneer in the automation in quarrying, Dr. Lui introduced modernized machines to the Hong Kong quarrying industry and was acclaimed by the media as "the King of Quarry" in the late 1970s. In 2002, Dr. Lui successfully bid for one of the three licenses to operate casinos in Macau.
Dr. Lui is also a distinguished philanthropist and has been particularly supportive of the development of education and medical care. In recognition of his exemplary contributions, Dr. Lui was awarded the degree of Doctor of Laws, honoris causa by the University of Victoria in 2001, the degree of Doctor of Social Science, honoris causa by the Chinese University of Hong Kong in 2002, and an Honorary University Fellowship by the University of Hong Kong in 2002.

Prof. MacFarquhar, Roderick

Leroy B. Williams Professor of History and Political Science, Harvard University

Roderick MacFarquhar is chair of the department and Leroy B. Williams Professor of History and Political Science and former Director of the John King Fairbank Center for East Asian Research. His publications include The Hundred Flowers Campaign and the Chinese Intellectuals, The Sino-Soviet Dispute, China under Mao; Sino-American Relations, 1949-1971; The Secret Speeches of Chairman Mao; the final two volumes of the Cambridge History of China (with the late John Fairbank); The Politics of China 2nd Ed: The Eras of Mao and Deng; and a trilogy, The Origins of the Cultural Revolution. He was the founding editor of The China Quarterly, and has been a fellow at Columbia University, the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, and the Royal Institute for International Affairs. In previous personae, he has been a journalist, a TV commentator, and a Member of Parliament. He is working on a book on the Cultural Revolution.

Dr. Petit, Henri D.

Chairman and President, Greater Asia Region; Vice President, Eastman Kodak Company

Following three years with a French sub-nuclear physics research lab, Henri Petit began his Kodak career in 1975 as assistant to the manager of the Purchasing Division, Kodak-Pathé (France). In 1989, Petit was appointed general manager and vice president, Motion Picture and Television Imaging, Europe, Africa and Middle East Region, located in London. In December 1992, he was appointed corporate vice president and worldwide general manager of Motion Picture and Television Imaging and relocated to the U.S. In November 1995, Petit was named general manager of European, African and Middle Eastern Region. In September 1997, he was appointed Chief Operating Officer of Consumer Imaging. Effective February 2001, he was named to his current position based in Shanghai, China.
A native of Baden-Baden, Germany, Henri Petit holds a masters degree in engineering from the École Superieure de Physique et Chimie de Paris, a post-graduate degree in nuclear physics, and a Ph.D. in corpuscular electronics from the University of Paris XI, France. He attended the Advanced Management Program, I.N.S.E.A.D., Fontainbleau, France.

Mr. Schlesinger, David

Executive Vice President and Editor, Americas, Reuters

David Schlesinger has been EVP & Editor, Americas, since May 2000. Based in New York, he is responsible for the output of Reuters 650 journalists, cameramen, photographers and deskers in North, Central and South America. David transferred to New York in 1995 as Financial Editor for the Americas and also served as Managing Editor for the Americas. He joined Reuters in 1987 in Hong Kong as a correspondent. He then ran Reuters editorial operations in Taiwan, China and the Greater China region in a series of posts between 1989 and 1995. Prior to joining Reuters he wrote for a variety of publications in Hong Kong and had an early career as a teacher. David graduated from Oberlin College and has a Masters degree in Regional Studies -- East Asia from Harvard University.

Dr. Segal, Adam

Maurice R. Greenberg Senior Fellow in China Studies, Council on Foreign Relations

Adam Segal is the Maurice R. Greenberg Senior Fellow in China Studies at the Council on Foreign Relations. An expert on Chinese domestic politics, technology development, foreign policy, and security issues, he has a PhD and BA in government from Cornell University, and an MALD in international relations from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy, Tufts University. He is currently the project director for a CFR independent task force, chaired by former Secretary of Defense Harold Brown and by Admiral Joseph Prueher, former ambassador to China and Commander, US Pacific Command, on Chinese military modernization. Previously, he was an arms control analyst at the Union of Concerned Scientists, and a visiting scholar at the Center for International Studies, MIT. He has also been a visiting scholar at the Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences and Qinghua University in Beijing. He has written a book — Digital Dragon: High-technology enterprises in China (Cornell University Press, 2002) — as well as several articles and book chapters on Chinese technology policy.

Mr. Shong, Hugo

Vice Chairman and General Partner, IDG Technology Venture Investment

Mr. Shong was the founding partner of IDG Technology Venture Investment (formerly known as Pacific Technology Venture Fund) in 1993, which was described by New York Times as China's first technology venture fund. It has invested in over 90 technology-related deals and having over $200 million under management in China.
Mr. Shong joined IDG in November, 1991 after working three years as managing editor at Electronic Business China, Electronic Business Asia and EDN Asia at Cahners Publishing (now Reed Business Information).
Mr. Shong completed Harvard Business School's AMP program in 1996, and graduated with an M.S. degree from Boston University's College of Communication in 1987 before studying on a research fellowship program at the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy. Mr. Shong graduated with a B.A. degree from Hunan University in 1982, and studied journalism at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences from 1984-86.

Prof. Vogel, Ezra F.

Henry Ford II Professor of the Social Sciences, Emeritus, Harvard University

Ezra F. Vogel is the Henry Ford II Research Professor at Harvard. After graduating from Ohio Wesleyan in 1950 and serving two years in the U.S. Army, he studied sociology in the Department of Social Relations at Harvard, receiving his Ph.D. in 1958. He then went to Japan for two years to study the Japanese language and conduct research interviews with middle-class families. In 1960-1961 he was assistant professor at Yale University and from 1961-1964 a post-doctoral fellow at Harvard, studying Chinese language and history. He remained at Harvard, becoming lecturer in 1964 and, in 1967, professor. He retired from teaching on June 30, 2000.
Vogel succeeded John Fairbank to become the second Director (1972-1977) of Harvard's East Asian Research Center and Chairman of the Council for East Asian Studies (1977-1980). He was Director of the Program on U.S.-Japan Relations at the Center for International Affairs (1980-1987) and, since 1987, Honorary Director. He was Chairman of the undergraduate concentration in East Asian Studies from its inception in 1972 until 1991. He was Director of the Fairbank Center (1995-1999) and the first Director of the Asia Center (1997-1999). Vogel was Chairman of the Harvard Committee to Welcome President Jiang Zemin (1998). He has also served as Co-director of the Asia Foundation Task Force on East Asian Policy Recommendations for the New Administration (2001).

Prof. Wang, Jiang

Professor of Finance, Sloan School of Management, MIT

Dr. Wang is the Nanyang Technological University Professor of Finance at MIT Sloan School of Management. He received his Ph.D. in physics in 1985 and his Ph.D. in finance in 1990, from the University of Pennsylvania. His research is in the area of asset pricing, investments and risk management. Dr. Wang has served on the editorial board of several academic journals including the Journal of Financial Markets, Operations Research, Quantitative Finance, and the Review of Financial Studies. He is the recipient of the Trefftz Award in 1990, the Batterymarch Fellowship in 1995 and the Leo Melamed Prize in 1997. Dr. Wang is also a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, an External Examiner of Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a trustee of Nanjing University. He has also consulted for various financial firms.

Mr. Wang, Sing

CEO and Executive Director, the Tom Group

Mr. Sing Wang is CEO and Executive Director of the TOM Group, a listed company in Hong Kong backed by Hutchison Whampoa and Cheung Kong Holdings.
With his strategic vision and strong leadership, the TOM Group, in just over two years, has evolved from an Internet startup into a Greater China Chinese-language media group with leading positions in online, outdoor, publishing, sports and entertainment media. Group revenue in 2002 has increased from US$11 million in 2000 to over US$200 million.
Wang is one of the most experienced private equity investors in Greater China with broad experiences in investment banking, equity capital markets and technology. He has spent seven years at Goldman Sachs responsible mainly for its China investment projects including Ping An Insurance Company, and a number of high profile IPOs as well as the US$5 billion restructuring of Guangdong Enterprise Group. He has also worked for McKinsey & Co. in Chicago and Wardley Direct Investment Management in Hong Kong.
Wang holds post-graduate degrees from Oxford University and a bachelor degree from Yunnan University in Mainland China.

Mr. Weld, Jonathan M.

Partner, Shearman & Sterling

Jonathan Weld is a partner in the global law firm of Shearman & Sterling. He is normally based in New York. Mr. Weld spent much of the last two years in Beijing and Hong Kong, as lead legal counsel for the Bank of China in the restructuring and global IPO of Bank of China Hong Kong. This US$2.67 billion offering was the first international offering by a Chinese bank, which it is hoped will serve as a template for modernization of the PRC banking sector.
Mr. Weld joined Shearman & Sterling in 1967, following graduation from Harvard College and Cornell Law School. His practice focuses on international securities and banking law and regulatory issues, usually involving financial institutions. Shearman & Sterling has acted as legal counsel in more privatizations of Chinese companies than any other law firm.
He is the author of numerous articles and co-author of Regulation of Foreign Banks – United States and International (3rd ed.). (Matthew Bender, 2002)

Dr. Wilkinson, Endymion

EU Ambassador to China, 1994-2001
Currently lecturing at Asia Center, Harvard University

Endymion Wilkinson is currently a Senior Fellow at the Asia Center and lecturing on Chinese History and Civilization (Tools and Methods) at EALC. Prior to that he was the EU Ambassador to China (1994 to 2001). After gaining his Princeton Ph.D in 1970 (published as Studies in Chinese Price History), he lectured on the History of the Far East at the University of London before joining the External Relations Department of the European Commission in 1974. Despite busy postings in Tokyo, Brussels, Bangkok, and Beijing he has published widely on East Asia.

Ms. Wingard, Carol A.

Managing Director, L.E.K. Consulting Greater China Practice

Carol is currently Director of the China practice for L.E.K. Consulting, a global strategy and M&A advisory firm. With offices in Beijing and Shanghai, L.E.K. serves both major multinational investors in China as well as Chinese corporations and government entities.
With fifteen years of strategy consulting and business development experience, Carol focuses on developing and implementing growth and investment strategies for corporations in Asia. During this period, she has lived and worked in Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Tokyo. Carol joined the L.E.K. China partnership in 1996.
Carol graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University, the Harvard University Chinese language program and the graduate program in international business and Japanese at Sophia University, Japan, under a Rotary Foundation graduate scholarship. She speaks Mandarin Chinese and is conversant in Japanese.
Carol is currently based in Beijing where she manages the L.E.K. Beijing office.

Ms. Wright, Claire

Former Partner and Worldwide Director of WTO Center, Ernst & Young LLP

Claire is a WTO expert with over 15 years of experience in the international trade law field. She teaches on a full-time basis as an Assistant Professor at the Thomas Jefferson School of Law in San Diego. Previously, she was a partner and the Director of the WTO Center at Ernst & Young LLP as well as a partner in the international law firm of Baker & McKenzie.
Given China’s new entry into the WTO, she currently is assisting numerous companies with respect to market access issues in China. She has also provided WTO training classes for groups of Chinese nationals. In addition, she has lobbied various South American and Asian Governments on WTO compliance issues.
As an adjunct professor, Claire has taught courses on the international trade laws at Stanford Law School and at the Graduate School of International Relations and Pacific Studies at the University of California in San Diego. Claire received her undergraduate education at Smith College (summa cum laude, 1978) and her legal education at Harvard Law School (cum laude, 1983).

Mr. Wu, John

Mr. Wu brings a wealth of technical and management expertise to Alibaba through his many years of work in Silicon Valley. After joining Yahoo! Inc. in April of 1996, Wu directed the company's search and e-commerce technology engineering team. He is the chief architect of Yahoo!'s directory search engine and its many applications. Mr. Wu also led a team of engineers and technical professionals in the design and implementation of Yahoo!'s e-commerce technologies, which have now been deployed in over a dozen of Yahoo!'s e-commerce services.
Prior to joining Yahoo!, Mr. Wu was the development Manager at Oracle's Server Technology Department. Mr. Wu received a BS degree with High Distinction from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor, majoring in Computer Science. He was born in Shanghai and studied at Shanghai Jiaotong University.

Mr. Wu, Xiaoyong

Mr. Wu began his career as a reporter and producer for Radio Beijing English Service. After receiving his M.A. degree in Broadcast Journalism from the University of Missouri in 1982, Mr. Wu continued his career at Radio Beijing English Service as a correspondent, news director and director till the early 1990s. He then worked for the World Bank Permanent Mission in China as a consultant and project officer. In the mid 1990s, Mr. Wu came to Harvard University as a Nieman Fellow. Afterwards Mr. Wu joined Phoenix Satellite Television Holdings, Co. Ltd. as assistant CEO and Director of Business Development. Today, Mr. Wu holds the post of CEO of Phoenix Satellite Television (US) Inc.

Dr. Yin, Li

Deputy Director, Social Development Bureau, State Council Research Office, People's Republic of China

Dr. Yin is the deputy director of Social Development Bureau of the State Council Research Office in P. R. China. He received his M.D. from Shandong Medical University in 1986 and his Ph.D. in Medicine from Russian Medical Science Academy in 1993.
Currently, Dr. Yin conducts research work in Health Insurance Reform in China at Harvard School of Public Health as a Takemi Fellow. Since 1994, Dr. Yin has been working as a health policy analyst in State Council Research Office. He participated in drafting the government documents for urban social health insurance reform and rural health care reform. His suggestions and advises in health care reform were accepted by the top leaders of the central government. He is the author of more than twenty papers and several books on topics on health care system reform, health insurance reform and health expenditures in China. Dr. Yin also serves as a standing member of the Chinese Health Economics Association and the member of the expert commission under the China AIDS Prevention Association. He has been awarded the honored professor of Beijing Normal University and the honored senior researcher of the National Health Economics Institute.

Mr. Yeung, Lo-Kwan

Mr. Yeung works has been a senior consultant to the TideTime Group since 2001. By leveraging his expertise and resources, Mr. Yeung plays a leading role in government relations, investor relations and policy studies in the TideTime Group. Other posts Mr. Yeung currently holds include: Committee Member of the Chinese Committee of World Economics; Honorary Consultant to the Shanghai Enterprise Development Institute; Committee Member of the Beijing Youth Economics Society.
In his role as Committee Member of the Beijing Youth Economics Society, Mr. Yeung works to introduce economics to students at an early age. He draws heavily from his personal experience and inspires students to dream and teaches them to plan accordingly. Through his tireless efforts Mr. Yeung has grown intimately familiar with the Chinese education system.
Mr. Yeung holds a Bachelor in Economics from Fudan University. In 1988, he was named to the 10 Outstanding Shanghai Youths of Year 1988.

Robert Yung is CTO of Enterprise Processors, Enterprise Products Group, Intel Corporation. In his current role, Robert is responsible for developing long term vision, technology and roadmap strategies for EPG architectures and product capabilities for Itanium Product Family (IPF) and IA32 servers.
In 2002, Robert was awarded the National Committee of US-China Relation's Fellow during the inaugural Young Leader Forum. In 2000, Robert was named to the World Economic Forum's ¡°Top 100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow¡± in Davos, Switzerland. The Global Leaders for Tomorrow represent a new generation of global decision-makers from business, government, politics and civil society who have demonstrated leadership in areas such as society, environment, technology and social responsibility in business.
Robert earned his BA, MS and PhD degrees in electrical engineering and computer science at the University of California at Berkeley. Robert is the author of 67 issued and over 20 pending patents, and has published extensively in technical journals and industry conferences worldwide.

Mr. Zhang, Hongxi

Ambassador and Consul General, Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in New York

Mr. Zhang Hongxi is Ambassador and Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York. He is also a member of the Chinese National Political Consultative Conference, where he serves on the Committee of Foreign Affairs.
Mr. Zhang began his career in 1964 as a staff member in the Policy Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1975, he moved on to become an Attach¨¦ at the Embassy of People's Republic of China in Thailand. In 1979, Mr. Zhang joined the Department of Consular Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Division Chief. He was later promoted to the Division Chief and held the post until 1987. After a two year tour of duty as Counselor at the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Australia, Mr. Zhang returned to the Department of Consular Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Deputy Director General in 1989 and later became Director General. In 1997, Mr. Zhang became Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Tanzania. In August of 1999, Mr. Zhang moved on to his current post as Ambassador and Consul General of the People's Republic of China in New York.
Mr. Zhang was born in June, 1941, in China¡¯s Henan province. He is married and has two sons.

Hua Zhang, currently a Fulbright Visiting Scholar at Harvard Graduate School of Education, is Professor and Ph.D. of curriculum studies at East China Normal University, Shanghai, China. He also sits on the Committee of International Association for Advancement of Curriculum Studies (IAACS), and serves as Advisory expert for the Chinese Ministry of Education. He has published 5 books and more than 80 papers in academic journals.

As the key founder of SINOTRUST, Mr. Zhao Min is a pioneer dedicated to management consulting in China mainland. Since 1992, Mr. Zhao has successfully provided services for dozens of multinational corporations, China's public listed companies and fast-growing private firms. Due to his outstanding contribution to Chinese enterprises management and management consulting industry, Mr. Zhao was the only consulting professional from mainland China selected by the World Economic Forum to one of the "2001 Global Leaders for Tomorrow." Mr. Zhao was one of 15 Chinese leaders selected by National Committee on US-China Relations to attend the Young Leader Forum. Mr. Zhu, Dennis D.

Dennis Zhu is Managing Director and Chairman of Greater China Operating Committee of JPMorgan Chase. He focuses on leading JPMorgan's major efforts in developing key client relationships, strategic initiatives and other business opportunities in Greater China.
Before his current position, Mr. Zhu was head of JPMorgan's investment banking operations in China since 1999. He was responsible for the firm's capital market business and brings to the position over 15 years of solid financial experience.
Prior to joining JPMorgan, Mr. Zhu worked for Credit Suisse First Boston where he held a variety of senior positions. Mr. Zhu played a key role in executing the firm's securities underwriting business and was subsequently promoted to Director and Head of China Operations in 1998.
Mr. Zhu earned his MBA from the Graduate School of Business, the University of Chicago in 1993. He received his Master of Science in Accounting from the Ministry of Finance's Research Institute in Beijing and a BSc in Management from Hebei Institute of Geology.

Prof. Zhu, Zhen

Assistant Professor, Babson College

Dr. Zhu's research interests include services marketing - currently focusing on service failure and recovery issues, technology management, and international marketing. Her dissertation was on customers' attitudinal and behavioral responses to technology-based self-service failures. Her technology management research centers on technology and marketing integration and has recently been extended to the cross-cultural contexts. Dr. Zhu has won awards and grants for her research and studies from Fudan University, Penn State University, the University of Illinois at Chicago, and the business community. She has published in the European Business Forum and Management Modernization (China). Her other work is presently under review at the Journal of Marketing and other journals. She has worked in the marketing divisions of OTIS Elevators (China) and Proctor & Gamble (China), and cooperated in research projects for Credit Suisse First Boston (China) and Bank of China. Dr. Zhu was the Director and General Secretary of the Association of Chinese Scientists and Engineers (USA) from 2000 to 2002.
