Submission Guidelines for Harvard China Review

I. Format

1. The articles must be in Microsoft WORD format with the following specifications:

1) Length: around 3,000 words.

2) Font: Times New Roman 12pt (including titles and captions). No italic, bold, or other fancy fonts.

3) References: In-text citation is the preferred method to acknowledge the references. Sources MUST be acknowledged but a lengthy list of bibliography is not welcomed. Footnotes are NOT necessary.

4) Author information: please add a brief intro of the author at the end of each article (no more than 2 sentences).

5) Sections: if possible, please try to divide each article into several chapters.

6) Abstracts: a 100-150 words abstract is required to be submitted with each article.

2. Photos:

1) Photos must be separated from the article. Please don't insert any photo into articles.

2) Photos must be equal to or bigger than 2M bytes.

3) Captions should be provided together with photos.

II. Content

1. All articles must provide an accurate picture of the economic, social, cultural, or other essential parts of the transformational occurring in modern China

2. All articles should be aimed towards a non-academic yet informed audience. Concrete analysis is expected.

HCR reserves the right to publish submitted articles (including all texts, graphics, and photographs) in any issue of HCR and on the official HCR website. The copyright to the articles belongs to HCR upon publication. If an article is deemed inappropriate for publication, HCR reserves the right to reject it for publication or postpone it to a later issue. We will make all possible efforts to ensure the publication of a solicited article, but please note that an invitation to write does not guarantee publication.
